Pig toilets

Palolem, South Goa, India.

About five years ago, I was told about the pig toilets in Goa and simply dismissed it as a fat-bloke-down-the-pub lie. On further rumination however, I realised the sense and simplicity of scavenger waste removal in an area with such a low water table. Thus inspired, I embarked upon a journey to donate my own unwanted effluence to these lean and hungry streetcleaners.

I found the toilets in Palolem in south Goa. They are not public toilets, they are owned by the locals, but fortunately they are not locked. Having to ask to use someone's pig toilet would have been embarrassing. To find the toilets, I simply followed the pigs.

I think the two images tell the rest of the story. I really cannot explain the feeling of superiority to be gained from watching another live being eating my excrement.
